Privacy Policy for Video Downloader

Effective Date: June 11, 2026

Introduction

Video Downloader ("we," "our," or "the App") is a utility app with a built-in browser that lets you detect and save videos and audio from the websites you visit. We take your privacy seriously, and this Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Important Notice: Video Downloader does not operate its own content servers. Your browsing, cookies and the files you download are stored on your device. We do not require an account, and we never receive your downloaded files or the contents of the pages you browse. The only data that leaves your device is anonymous analytics, anonymous crash diagnostics, remote configuration requests, and advertising requests (Google AdMob), as described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Usage & Diagnostics (via Firebase Analytics)

To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage data through Google Firebase Analytics, such as:

  • App Events: Screens opened, features used (for example a download started or completed), and session length
  • Device & App Information: Device model, operating system version, app version, language and general region/country
  • Analytics Identifiers: A randomly generated app-instance ID used to count distinct devices. This is not your name, email or phone number, and can be reset by clearing app data or reinstalling the App

We do not log the websites you visit, your search terms, or the specific URLs you download as analytics events.

1.2 Crash Diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics)

To improve stability, when the App unexpectedly crashes we automatically collect:

  • Crash Stack Trace: The exception type, message, and call stack at the moment of the crash
  • Device Information: Device model, manufacturer, OS version, app version, and available RAM/storage at crash time
  • Crashlytics Installation ID: A randomly generated, anonymous identifier that groups crashes from the same install. It is not linked to any personal identifier and can be reset by clearing app data or reinstalling

Crash reports are used solely for diagnosing and fixing bugs. They do not contain the pages you browse or the files you download.

1.3 Remote Configuration (via Firebase Remote Config)

The App fetches a small configuration file from Google Firebase Remote Config to enable or adjust features (such as which platform shortcuts appear on the home screen). This is a download only: the request carries standard device/app metadata used by the Firebase SDK, and no personal data or browsing information is uploaded.

1.4 Browsing Data & Downloaded Files (stored only on your device)

The following stays on your device and is never transmitted to us:

  • Browser Data: Cookies, site data and cache created while you browse in the in-app browser, so that sites you sign in to keep working
  • Downloaded Media: The videos, images and audio files you save, written to your device's storage (Downloads / shared media, or a folder you choose)
  • Download History & Settings: Your list of downloads and your app preferences, kept in the App's private storage

1.5 Advertising (Google AdMob)

We use Google AdMob to display ads in the App. To serve and measure ads, AdMob (Google) may collect and process certain information, including:

  • Advertising ID: Your device's resettable advertising identifier, used to serve and measure ads and to limit how often an ad is shown
  • Device & Usage Information: Device model, OS version, language, general location (e.g. country), and ad-interaction events
  • IP Address: Used by Google for approximate location and fraud prevention

This information is collected and used by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps using its services. You can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings. Pro (paid) users do not see ads.

1.6 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
  • We do not require you to create an account or sign in
  • We do not upload your browsing history, cookies, or downloaded files to any server we control
  • We do not collect your precise location
  • We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone

2. Permissions Explanation

2.1 Internet & Network State (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE)

  • Purpose: To load web pages in the browser, download the media you select, fetch remote configuration, and send the anonymous analytics and crash diagnostics described above. Network-state access lets the App detect connectivity and pause or resume downloads appropriately.

2.2 Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

  • Purpose: To show download progress and completion notifications. You can disable these in your device settings at any time.

2.3 Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC)

  • Purpose: To keep downloads running reliably while the App is in the background, with a visible ongoing notification as required by Android.

2.4 Storage Access

  • Purpose: Saved files are written through the Android system (MediaStore / the Storage Access Framework). For features such as saving WhatsApp Status, the App asks you to grant access to a specific folder; it only reads the folder you select and nothing else.

3. How We Use Information

  • To operate core features: browsing, sniffing media, downloading, and managing your files
  • To understand which features are used so we can improve the App (anonymous analytics)
  • To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs (anonymous crash reports)
  • To roll out and tune features safely through remote configuration

4. Data Security

  • On-device Storage: The App's settings and download history are kept in private storage isolated by the Android system sandbox
  • Encryption in Transit: Analytics, crash reports and remote-config requests are carried by Google's SDKs over HTTPS/TLS
  • No Central Account: Because there is no login and no content server, there is no central database of your activity to breach

5.1 Firebase Analytics (Google)

5.2 Firebase Crashlytics (Google)

5.3 Firebase Remote Config (Google)

5.4 Google AdMob

5.5 Third-Party Websites

You should download only content that you own or have permission to save, and you must respect the copyright, intellectual-property rights and terms of service of every website you use. Do not use the App to infringe the rights of others. You are solely responsible for the content you download and how you use it.
