Privacy Policy — Timestamp Toolbox
Last updated: 2 September 2026
The short version: Timestamp Toolbox collects no data, sends no data, and contacts no server. It makes no network requests of any kind. The only thing it stores is your own settings, and those are kept by Chrome, not by us.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Timestamp Toolbox browser extension published by Parse Studio9 on the Chrome Web Store, and to this website.
What data the extension handles
The extension processes exactly two things, both of which stay on your device:
- Text you convert. What you type into the popup, and any text you select and convert with the right-click menu. It is turned into a date or a timestamp in your browser and then discarded. It is never stored, logged, or transmitted.
- Your settings. Interface language, time zone, date format, number
unit preference and the clock's appearance. These are saved with Chrome's
storage.syncAPI, which means Chrome — not Parse Studio9 — syncs them across the devices where you are signed in to the same browser profile. We cannot see them, and they contain nothing about you beyond those preferences.
When you copy a result, the value is written to your system clipboard by your browser. Nothing else touches it.
What the extension does not do
- It makes no network requests — no API calls, no analytics endpoint, no error reporting, no update ping, no remote fonts or scripts. All code and all assets ship inside the extension package.
- It collects no personal information: no name, email, address, phone number, age, or identity of any kind.
- It collects no usage data: no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no counters, no unique identifiers, no advertising ID.
- It does not read, record, or transmit your browsing history, page content, or form input.
- It sets no cookies and uses no third-party service.
- It does not sell or share data with anyone, because it holds none.
Why the extension asks for each permission
Chrome shows a permission list at install time. Here is what each one is for, and equally important, what it is not:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| storage | Saves your settings — language, time zone, date format, clock appearance — so they persist and sync with your browser profile. |
| contextMenus | Adds the right-click entries: convert the selected text, copy the current timestamp, open the LED clock. |
| activeTab | Grants access to the current tab only at the moment you click one of those right-click items, and only for that tab. It is not standing access, and it expires immediately afterwards. |
| scripting | Draws the small result card in the corner of that tab. It runs one function that creates the card and reads nothing from the page. |
There is deliberately no host permission and no
<all_urls> access. The extension cannot read the sites you visit, cannot
run in the background on any page, and cannot see anything you have not explicitly
selected and asked it to convert.
The LED clock and screen wake lock
The clock page can hold a screen wake lock so your display does not sleep while it is open. This uses the browser's standard Screen Wake Lock API, requires no permission in the manifest, affects only your own screen, and stops as soon as you release it or leave the page.
Children
The extension is a developer utility. It is not directed at children, and since it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.
Data retention and deletion
There is no server, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your settings live in your browser; removing the extension removes them. You can also clear them at any time with the "Reset to defaults" button on the extension's options page.
Changes to this policy
If the extension ever gains a feature that changes how data is handled, this page will be updated before that version is published, and the "last updated" date above will change. Any policy that says the extension collects nothing will only ever be replaced by a more specific one, never quietly by a broader one.
