Privacy Policy for DualShot Recorder

Last updated: April 18, 2026

Thank you for using DualShot Recorder ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.

1. Our Core Principle

DualShot Recorder is designed with a privacy-first approach. All video recording, photo capture, and image processing happen entirely on your device. We do not operate any server that holds your content, and we do not run any advertising SDK or user-behavior profiling SDK. The only data sent off the device is limited crash-diagnostics information used to fix app stability issues (see Section 5).

The App is distributed as a one-time paid download through Google Play. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no advertising.

2. Information Collection

2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does NOT collect:

  • Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number, account, etc.)
  • Advertising IDs or user profiling data
  • Precise location information
  • Browsing history or contact information
  • The video or photo content you record (never uploaded to any server)
  • Behavioral analytics, usage telemetry, or per-feature tracking

2.2 Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to any server:

  • Recorded media: video files in your device's Movies/DualShot folder, and still photos / in-recording snapshots in Pictures/DualShot
  • App settings: resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, video filter, white balance, exposure, grid, watermark text, audio gain, audio source, recording duration limit, language, and similar preferences
  • Recording presets: any preset configurations you save
  • Dual-camera compatibility record: whether dual-camera mode has successfully run on your device, and a short-lived counter of recent hardware failures. This is used only to automatically fall back to single-camera mode on devices whose firmware repeatedly fails at opening dual streams. It contains no personal or device-identifying information and never leaves your device.

3. How We Use Information

We do not collect information from users. All video recording, photo capture, encoding, and image processing (filters, watermark, LOG/LUT color grading, histogram, waveform, focus peaking, zebra) occur locally on your device using your device's camera, microphone, GPU, and processor.

4. Information Sharing

The App contains no advertising SDKs, no user-behavior analytics SDKs, no cloud backend operated by us, and no social media integrations that transmit data. The only third-party service that receives any data from the App is Google Firebase, and only for crash diagnostics — see Section 5.

5. Crash Diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics, a crash-reporting service provided by Google, to automatically collect diagnostic information when the App crashes. This helps us fix stability issues across the wide variety of Android camera hardware.

What is sent to Firebase Crashlytics when a crash occurs:

  • The crash stack trace (which line of code failed)
  • Device model, manufacturer, Android OS version, and hardware details (RAM, storage free space, orientation, etc.)
  • App version (version code and version name)
  • A non-persistent, anonymous Firebase Installation ID used only to group crash events from the same install. It is not linked to your Google account or any personal identifier, and it resets if you reinstall the App or clear app data.

What is NEVER sent:

  • Your recorded videos, photos, or any media content
  • File names or file paths of your media
  • Your Google account, email, phone number, or any personal identifier
  • Precise location data (approximate country-level information may be inferred by Firebase from the IP address used to deliver crash reports)
  • Contact list, messages, or any data from other apps

Firebase Crashlytics is also the technical reason the App requests the android.permission.INTERNET permission. Crash data is transmitted by Google's SDK only when a crash occurs or shortly after, and is subject to Google's Firebase privacy documentation.

This feature is enabled by default to help us deliver a stable product. If you are a resident of a region with opt-in consent requirements (such as the EU/EEA under GDPR), please contact us at [email protected] and we will document the steps to disable crash reporting for your installation.

6. Permissions Explained

PermissionPurposeRequired
CameraRecord video and take photos using your device's cameras (wide, ultra-wide, and front lenses, including simultaneous dual-camera recording where supported)Yes
MicrophoneRecord audio alongside videoYes
InternetUsed exclusively by Firebase Crashlytics to transmit crash diagnostics when a crash occurs (see Section 5). The App itself performs no other network requests.Yes

The App only requests the minimum permissions necessary for its core functionality. Camera and microphone access is used exclusively for user-initiated recording and is never used for background surveillance or data collection.

7. Data Security

All recorded videos and photos are stored locally on your device using Android's standard file system. We do not operate any servers. The only outbound traffic from the App is occasional crash reports sent to Firebase Crashlytics over HTTPS (see Section 5). Your recordings remain entirely under your control; uninstalling the App does not delete media already saved to the public Movies/DualShot and Pictures/DualShot folders.

8. Sharing Features

The App provides share buttons that use Android's built-in sharing mechanism (the Intent.ACTION_SEND / ACTION_SEND_MULTIPLE system) to let you send recorded videos or photos to other apps you choose. When you choose to share, the file is passed from your device to the selected app via Android's FileProvider. DualShot Recorder does not intercept, copy, or monitor shared content.

9. Payments & License

DualShot Recorder is a paid download. Purchase, license verification, refunds, and re-installation on other devices you own are all handled by Google Play under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not see your Google account information, payment details, or purchase history.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the current release collects no personal information from any user, this concern does not apply to the App itself. Parents should supervise any recording of minors consistent with applicable law.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated policies will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes (e.g., enabling crash diagnostics) will be announced together with the corresponding app update.

12. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at [email protected].

(Firebase Crashlytics)

Firebase Crashlytics 是本应用需要 android.permission.INTERNET 权限的根本原因。
