Privacy Policy for Fasting Timer

Thank you for using Fasting Timer — Intermittent Fasting ("the App"). Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Our Core Principle

Fasting Timer is designed with a privacy-first approach. The App works entirely offline and does not require an account, login, or any personal information to function. Your fasting, weight, water and plant data always stay on your device. The only data that leaves your device is (a) anonymous diagnostic and usage statistics collected by Google Firebase to help us improve stability and understand aggregate usage, (b) backups that you explicitly choose to upload to your own Google Drive account via the optional Pro sync feature, and (c) advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data used by Google AdMob to display ads in the free tier of the App. Pro subscribers see no ads and AdMob is not loaded for them.

2. Information Collection

2.1 Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored only on your device and is never uploaded to any server:

• Fasting records (start time, end time, duration, plan type)
• Weight tracking entries
• Water intake logs
• Garden plant collection data
• App preferences (fasting plan, notification settings, language, theme)
• Streak and statistics data

2.2 Diagnostic & Usage Data (Firebase)

To keep the App stable and understand how it is used in aggregate, the App integrates Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services collect a limited, non-identifying dataset automatically:

• Crash reports (Crashlytics): stack traces, device model, Android version, App version, and the system state at the moment of a crash or ANR. These are used solely to diagnose and fix bugs.
• Aggregate usage statistics (Analytics): first-open events, session starts, session duration, screen views at the Activity level, app version, device model, OS version, country/region (derived from IP, which is not stored), and language.
• Instance identifiers: Firebase assigns each app install a pseudonymous ID (Firebase Installation ID) so that crashes and events from the same device can be grouped together. This ID is not linked to your real-world identity and is reset when you uninstall the App or clear its data.

This data is processed by Google on our behalf and is subject to Firebase's Privacy & Security information and Google's Privacy Policy. Firebase Analytics does not enable advertising ID collection, Google Analytics for Advertising, or remarketing audiences. Separately, the free tier of the App uses Google AdMob, which does access the device advertising ID — see Section 2.3 below for details. Pro subscribers' devices do not load AdMob and no advertising identifiers are accessed.

2.3 Advertising Data (Free Tier Only — AdMob)

The free tier of the App displays a single "App Open" advertisement supplied by Google's AdMob service when the App returns to the foreground (subject to a frequency cap). To select and measure these ads, AdMob accesses:

• Advertising ID — a resettable, pseudonymous identifier you control in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
• IP address — used to determine your country/region and detect fraud. Truncated/discarded after use; not stored long-term by us.
• Device information — model, OS version, language, screen size, network state.
• Ad-interaction data — impressions, clicks, and rough viewing duration of the served ads.

If you are located in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction requiring it, you will be shown a consent dialog (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) before any ads are loaded. You may decline personalized advertising, request non-personalized ads only, or reject ads entirely (where local law permits). Your choice is remembered and can be updated at any time from the App's settings.

Pro subscribers do not see ads. AdMob is not initialized for Pro accounts, no advertising identifiers are accessed, and no ad-related data is sent to Google.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does NOT collect:

• Personal identifying information (name, email, phone number, age, gender, etc.)
• Precise location data
• Advertising IDs (except by AdMob in the free tier, as described in Section 2.3 above; Pro subscribers' advertising IDs are never accessed)
• Contents of your fasting, weight, water, or plant records (these remain on your device)
• Health or medical information beyond what you voluntarily enter
• Browsing history, contacts, or any other device data

3. How We Use Information

Fasting, weight, water, plant and preference data stored by the App is used exclusively to provide its core features on your device and never leaves your device. Diagnostic and aggregate usage data described in Section 2.2 is used only to detect and fix crashes, measure App stability, and understand overall usage patterns (e.g., how many users open the App, which App versions are active).

4. Information Sharing

We do NOT sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share data with third-party data brokers. The App contains:

• No advertising SDKs for Pro subscribers; the free tier integrates Google AdMob only — see Section 2.3
• No social media SDKs
• No third-party data brokers

The data processors we use are Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) for diagnostics and aggregate usage statistics, Google Play Billing for subscription payments, the Google Drive API (Pro, opt-in) for your own personal backups, and Google AdMob (free tier only) for displaying ads, all as described in Section 5.

5. Third-Party Services

• Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Collects the diagnostic and aggregate usage data described in Section 2.2. Data is processed by Google LLC under a data-processing agreement and retained per Firebase's default retention settings. See Firebase Privacy & Security.
• Google Play Billing: Used only if you choose to purchase the Pro subscription. Google processes the payment; we receive only a confirmation of purchase status. Google's Privacy Policy
• Google AdMob (free tier only): AdMob serves a single "App Open" advertisement when the App returns to the foreground in the free tier, subject to a frequency cap. AdMob accesses the device advertising ID, IP address, device info, and ad-interaction data, all processed by Google LLC. Pro subscribers do not load AdMob and no advertising data is collected from them. EU/UK users are shown a consent dialog (UMP) before any ads load. How AdMob uses data
• Google Drive API (opt-in, Pro): Drive sync is strictly opt-in and disabled by default. If — and only if — you explicitly enable it from Settings, the App uses Google Drive's App Data folder to store a backup of your fasting data. This data is stored in a hidden, app-specific folder in your Google Drive that only the App can access — you and other apps cannot see it. We do not access your Google Drive files, folders, or any other data. You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account permissions.

6. Data Export & Optional Cloud Sync

By default, your data stays only on your device. The App offers two optional ways to back up your data, both fully under your control:

• CSV Export: Export your fasting and weight records as a CSV file, created locally on your device. You decide where to save the file.
• Google Drive Sync (Pro, opt-in): If you explicitly enable this feature from Settings, the App can back up your data to your personal Google Drive account. Backup data is stored in a private App Data folder that only this App can access. No data is sent to our servers — backups go directly from your device to your own Google Drive. You can disconnect at any time and the App will revert to fully offline behaviour.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

7.1 Retention Period

All data is stored locally on your device for as long as you continue to use the App. We do not store any data on external servers, so there is no server-side retention period.

7.2 How to Delete Your Data

You can delete your data at any time through the following methods:

• Delete individual records: In the App's history screen, swipe or tap on any fasting or weight record to delete it.
• Clear all data: Go to Settings > Data Management > Clear All Data within the App to permanently remove all fasting records, weight entries, water logs, plant data, and preferences.
• Uninstall the App: Removing the App from your device will automatically delete all associated data, as all data is stored locally.

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered as we do not keep any backups on servers.

8. Data Security

All user data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard data protection mechanisms (Room database and DataStore). We do not operate any servers; therefore, there is no risk of server-side data breaches.

All permissions are optional. The App's core fasting-timer functionality works without granting any permissions. Internet access is used to send crash reports and aggregate usage statistics to Firebase, deliver AdMob ads in the free tier, and, if you enable it, to back up or restore data via Google Drive.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated policies will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
